Regenerative water harvesting, conservation, & soil-building - in projects, policies, and programming to scale-up adoption

  • Moab Arts and Recreation Center Moab, UT (map)

This workshop is co-facilitated by Brad Lancaster and Jeff Adams as part of the 2020 Rocky Mountain Natural Builders Conference.

This workshop is FREE and open to the public as well as conference attendees, and does not require any conference registration

This interactive workshop will provide a big picture overview of whole systems design for on-site water resilience as well as practical examples and how-to guidance on specific water management strategies - namely:

• passive water harvesting (including rain gardens and green infrastructure),

• roof water catchment,

• grey water reuse,

• compost toilets (emphasizing pre-legal and legal low-cost, site-built systems).

Short presentations on each of the four strategies will cover fundamental considerations and case scenarios of each strategy in action. Then participants will work together in small groups after each presentation to discuss applications and strategies for increasing adoption of these techniques in their homes and communities.
Emphasis will be on highly effective, low-cost, zero-energy-consuming systems that aim for net carbon sequestration. Examples and discussion will focus on site specific applications, policy options, and programming to achieve scale and over come barriers to adoption.
