Integrated Rainwater Harvesting follows a site specific approach to understanding the conditions and goals of a particular project site and developing appropriate water harvesting strategies using active systems (tanks or barrels), passive systems (rain gardens, swales, etc), or a combination of both to effectively use on-site rainfall as a resource. This training includes a brief overview of core concepts, technical considerations, and applications for active and passive rainwater harvesting systems, including a detailed case scenario for practicing core calculations for sizing components and developing a water budget. Field based site assessment and design charette activities provide an opportunity to immediately apply class content in a real situation. Additional resources are discussed for continued learning and reference
